'40s mystery dinner

We went to a mystery dinner tonight dressed to the nines.  I did my hair in victory rolls, red lipstick and lots of mascara.  I found a '40s looking dress at downeast on clearance for $20 including tax!  I made my earings out of vintage looking buttons.  I also made my hair piece.  I bought the bracelets at Charlotte Ruse for $6.  Carly found her '50s dress at DI today - I was a little jealous, I never find things like that.

It was my first mystery dinner and it was a blast. Now  I want to throw one myself more than ever!  Thanks for inviting me mom.

Grammie and Gramps

My grandparents came in town on their way to their winter home.  It was fun to hear some family history and catch up on everyone!

  Reagan praying!

Thinking of you today

i don't mind your odd behavior
it's the very thing i love
if you were an ice cream flavor
you'd be my favorite one
my imagination sees you like a painting by van gogh
starry nights and bright sunflowers follow you where you may go
oh i loved you from the start
in every single way
and more each passing day
you are brighter than the stars
believe me when i say
it's not about your scars
its all about your heart.

Happy Birthday Mom/Grandma!

For Sale

We've decided it's time to sell our home in search for something a little bigger.  If you know anyone looking for a great starter home please send them our way!  Here's the ksl ad.

Kia

I've been putting off this post.  Kia passed away a week and a half ago.  Aaron took her up hiking and she collapsed.  She died really quickly and unexpectedly.  Can I say that I'm tired of getting these phone calls?  We've lost a lot of close souls over the last three years.
We got Kia when she was 5 weeks old and we had only been married 7 months.  She was such a part of our life, we really miss her.  Ashton had a break down for about 10 minutes and then he was fine.  The blessing of being a child.

We had Ashton and Reagan's check-ups today. Ashton is in the 65th percentile for height and weight at 3.5' and 43 lbs. Reagan is in the 50th for height at 30" and 20th for weight at 20.4 lbs.

Ashton has made some funny comments lately:
He was singing a song in the car that he had just heard that morning and picked up the lyrics. I told him that he was really good at getting the lyrics to songs that fast, he replied "I'm kinda a rockstar."
We were running low on gas so Ashton wanted to say a prayer.  After he did and we pulled into the gas station he said (which was never far away) he said "good thing I prayed mom, did you see those ghosts pushing the car?"  I think he meant angels!
Whenever he encounters something he thinks is lame his new phrase is "I'm five mom."  Like he's too old for that!
We hear "I'm Bleeding!" in a blood curdling scream from Ash's room, Aaron jumps up and runs in there to see what happened - Colten bonked Ash in the nose and it was bleeding but so little that it stopped by the time they walked to the bathroom.  He's just a little dramatic!

Colten has some funny quirks - he still sucks his pointer finger.  His new thing is to strip down to his diaper the minute we walk in the door.  Instead of holding a dirty shirt up to his nose like he used to, he now puts it on like pants and wears it like that until I make him put his clothes back on.  It's usually Reagan's shirt.  He starting to speak pretty clearly now.  He just talks really fast.

Reagan is saying quite a few words - Mine, More, No, Yes, Please, Thank you, Mo Mo (grandma), Mil (milk), down, sit down.  She's been trying to climb up on the kitchen chairs but chickens out once her feet are on the bars and ends up screaming for me to get her down.
