My Book

So I finally made my blog book - it was pretty simple to do, it just took time. Check it out here:

Book

Motherhood

My friend wrote about this book on her blog that talks about motherhood:
Google Reader (154): "'The biggest mistake of all would be to dwell on the frustration of the live throughs while letting the want to remembers slip through your fingers.'- Emily Watt"

This is what I need to focus on!

Big Boys

We went to the doctor for the boys' wellness checks today. Ashton is in the 50% at 31 lbs and 37.5 in. Colten is in the 60% at 15.2 lbs and 16.7 in. I was right to worry about his flat head though, the doctor has referred us to Primary Childrens to have a cranial-plastic surgeon look at it and see if he needs a helmet. There is a chance that they will tell us to wait a couple of months and see if it won't get better but our dr. felt that it was severe. Please keep him in your prayers so that he won't have to wear one.

Grandma Reid

My grandma passed away yesterday due to complications after surgery. I'm so grateful that we got to go her traditional Labor Day picnic last year, it was always a favorite of mine as a kid. They did three legged and potato sac races. They also put out a big hay stack and hid money and candy in it for the kids to find. I loved that she had a pink bathroom and ceramic pigs. She also loved jewelry and she always had beautiful rings on her fingers. We will miss her and I'm really sad for my grandpa who has survived her but I know that they will be together again after this life. My grandparents were sealed when I was on my mission, and we viewed it as a great blessing! I'm so grateful for the plan of salvation and the temple.

Happy Birthday Ashton!

We had a great Pirate party - It was so fun to see how grown up he's gotten!

Joke

So the other day Aaron was backing out of the driveway when Ashton goes "dad, why did the chicken cross the playground?" Aaron asked why - Ashton said "To get to the other slide!" He said he heard it on Backyardigans!

Wyoming

Aaron took a trip to Wyoming this last weekend to fly fish...he came home with some beautiful pictures!

Wish List

I've had the same coat for 6 years - I love it -but if I were to get a new one....

I also want rain boots - I wish I could have wellies but $115 is ridiculous so I'll go for these target ones!

And I love bags, but it's the one thing Aaron hates that I buy ... so it's the one thing I try really hard to do with out - but this one is cute!

mobile blogging

I am forgetful so I love the idea of being able to blog on the go - this way I can at least remember what was happening and fill in the blanks later. I was using Jott but now they charge, just in time for blogger to create their own mobile blogging tool! If you look at your dashboard you will see the info but basically you can set up your phone to link to your blog so you can send pics and text from your phone! Love it!

Hike

We hiked a trail in Farmington Canyon the other day that just about killed me! It wasn't that bad of a hike except that we were each packing a kid - and it was up hill on the way back. Needless to say I was feeling it for a few days. In the middle of walking back Ashton told Aaron he need to stop, he pulls out his play phone from his pocket and goes "Hewo? Yeah we're hiking in the mountains, what? Yeah we're heading back to the car, can I caw you back?" We were dying!

Ashton says....

We were walking in the store looking at Halloween costumes when we came upon Freddy Krueger, "Oh man that guys looks grumpy mom!"

Driving by Farr's Ice Cream shop "I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream."

In the middle of story time today he announces "I didn't go poo poo on the big boy toilette, I went in my pants." (referring to earlier this week)

State Fair & Rodeo

My parents took Ashton to the fair last night, He:
-Got a horse stamp, which "turned him into one"
-Rode 5 rides
-Ate a corn dog, hamburger, corn chips, corn on the cob, funnel cake, lemonade, sprite, rootbeer, and went to get more!
-Wore his new hoodie and thought he was faster than ever before in his new "racing" shoes and socks.
-He petted cows, pigs, rabbits, sheep, pigeons (eww), and rode a horse.
-Every time he walked by a band playing he played his air guitar!
Plus the rodeo - what a spoiled lucky, funny kid!

Schultute

I saw this idea on my friends blog - it's a German tradition from the early 1800's. You make this "School Cone" and fill it with school supplies and treats for your kids on their first day of 1st grade...it's so cute that I think it would be a good tradition for the first day of school every year. I think I might even do it for preschool next year - besides it an opportunity to get in touch with our German roots (I always focus on the Irish).

It's that time again!

Hunting season has begun - and Aaron is off to a good start....

Now to eat all those birds - ick!

Home EC

Ashton and I made mini pies in muffin tins the other day - they didn't look as good as I hoped but they tasted great! I also made one of Aaron's favs, my mom's leek & shrimp soup...
Saute 1 Leek cut up in olive oil with a little minced garlic. When soft add chicken broth and peeled, deveined shrimp (uncooked) heat until shrimp is pink. Add chopped Bok Choy and warm - serve.
