Dear Husband,

Thank you so much for freshening up the paint in the living room, however next time will you please remember to remove the paint cans when you are finished? Even if you have sealed them properly, when left with a screwdriver, your barely 3 year old, mechanically minded son will know how to open them. He understands the concept of a lever.  With the encouragement of his artistic, barely 2 year old sister, they will bathe in the paint, have a splash war and then traipse it all over my linoleum. My day of rest will then turn into a day of scrubbing paint off of the children (including our daughter's beautiful curly hair), piano, pictures, walls, floor, windows, curtains, tub and shower curtains. I love you, be very glad you are on duty today.

Oh no they didn't! I'm so sorry. That sounds like a miserable clean-up!

What a sweet chastizing ltr. I couldn't have done better at the composition. I'm sure Aaron got the point. He should realize the mischief little ones can get into.

Dearest Sarah, Aaron, great-Grands:
Been there. Done that.
Only with us, so many years ago, it was Elise, age 5 or 6, biting through a tube of textile paint. Paint exploded all over my kitchen, cupboards on down to cover much of floor. Brown paint down front of Elise's chin, around her mouth, front of her new dress. We had company at the time.
Elise, innocent as a lamb, pointed to Janin, age 4 1/2 and said, "Look what Janin did!"

Janin did manage to catch a few splatters on her Easter Sunday dress.
Janin, a few days before, and her cousin, Marc, same age, still bore memories of Mom's wrath over zipping cats into plastic garment storage bag, I kept hanging in basement. After an afternoon, a night and half of next day, I found the cats YUK! They did survive (the cats), as I remember.

So--My Darlings: Treasure your anecdotal memories, as you are doing.
