Today is national sisters day (who comes up with this stuff?) so I thought I would post a little about being a sister as well as my sisters. I always loved being the big sister, I loved the responsibility of setting an example and well thinking I was a second mom (who me?). I always have felt very protective of my little bro and sis, and I still have a hard time letting that go. I can't stand to see them hurting or struggling - I often want to rescue them from life's challenges even though I can't. I love being their sister.
Which brings me to Anna Banana - we're 4 1/2 years apart which is quite significant growing up. I left for college when she was in 8th grade and came home to discover she was a "real person," not just a baby. I went on a mission when she was going to be a junior and came back to find her all grown up. We haven't always gotten along but I still love her dearly. She has the most contagious laugh and positive attitude. She is a great mom and aunt. She is soooo much more fashion savvy then I'll ever be -and she does the best up-do in town! She is driven and accomplishes anything she puts her mind to do. I love when she comes home for visits and we get to spend time talking and catching up.
Then there are my two "crazy" fun sister-in-laws (pic to come soon) - I really couldn't ask for better in-laws but especially my sisters. They immediately made me feel welcome and a part of the family. We get along so well and I've had so much fun going on different girls trips with them. They always keep me on my toes with their wit and sense of humor. They are also great aunts to my kids and put up with my uptight-ness! I miss getting together as much as we used to - distance is a bummer. They have both taught me so much about being selfless and giving. They always go out of their way to help out and pitch in.
Anyway as you can see I'm pretty blessed in the sister department!
